Has anybody had any luck recovering Iota that has been stolen from your wallet? I believe I may have used a malicious seed generator and now all but <1 MIOTA have been stolen (there's a completed outgoing transaction listed in my history that was not me). Andreas Osowski from Iota mentioned that there may be a few options to recover the funds in this forum on Dec 5, https://forum.helloiota.com/1242/Reclaim-Status, but I have not been able to get a response. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm happy to tip someone if they are able to help me recover my funds.

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. Unfortunately, the reclaim process is for claiming funds that the IOTA Foundation secured from insecure addresses. It doesn't have anything to do with recovering stolen funds. Once a transaction is confirmed on the tangle, it is immutable and final, so there is no way to return those IOTAs to you. May I ask what seed generator you used?

Yeah, I didn't think the reclaim process would help. I just saw that in the reclaim forum that Andrew Osowski had posted the below... I tried direct messaging him like he instructed but I haven't received a response. Do you have any idea which solutions he may mean?

If you generated your old seed with a malicious seed generator and suspect that the thief has reclaimed your balance before you could:
'Think of this: how are we supposed to know whether something claiming to have reclaimed to a confiscated seed is the original owner or not. But there might be solutions. All need a direct message to me.'

It was quite a while ago so I can't remember which seed generator I used, but it may have been this one. https://www.roboform.com/password-generator. Again, I'm not sure that's it but it looks familiar.

If your funds were secured by the IOTA foundation, and you believe that your seed was compromised, you'd want to contact him to go through a KYC (Know Your Customer) process to try and prove that you are the real owner of the address in the Foundation's custody. That would only apply if the address that has your funds is listed here with either KEY_REUSE or CURL_NOT_TRANSITIONED: https://gist.githubusercontent.com/cyclux/2bb05d873c4ec6115cad1d100263d489/raw/612a49e46091586957448f6606ea981ab18022e7/snapshot_validation_20171023.txt

Unfortunately my address is not listed on that site. So just to confirm, even though I have the address my funds were sent to, and the funds are still there according to the IotaSear.ch site, there is no way possible for them to be retrieved?

If the address the funds were sent to is not one of your addresses, then yes, the funds are gone unfortunately. If you want to post the transaction hash or the address, I can take a look just to make sure it wasn't something as small as you moving money to another address and not seeing the "change" on a new receive address, though.

-Andreas Osowski

Here's the transaction hash. Thanks for checking. FOFQRKYNKRAEVEASGFMCQSGVAZX9MISYNFNVJHKJBDDEZSUZQYQDCN9NS9FTDHCQDMACUBVLOPFHA9999

Thanks, @Sparty4,

Do you recall sending either 841.8 Ki or 1.52 Gi at all about 3 or 4 weeks ago? If either of those ring a bell, there is a chance that your IOTA are still there, but on the next "index" of your seed. When you send IOTA, all of the funds on one address are used, and any "change" left over is sent to the next address on your seed. So, if you recall sending either of these amounts, the other amount may have been change sent to the next address on your seed. If that's the case, generating receive addresses and attaching them to the tangle a bunch of times (at least as many times as you have made transactions in the past), may suddenly have the address show up in your address history and therefore, your balance. When doing this, you'll be looking for either of these addresses to show up in your history:

TSBBEXPVAGEPSUXBQRZSSX9DDMUQNTFCDZJVSE9QHUFCLUOKCQWDRISZREIEFFLMBOGHLRSFEYWFXGQPW

or

WQMIX9UDLIAAASSKWFVSGGOJKNZRKBJLWDHGXACPJXRPKBRBCEBOTFVVTAZ9FDZZ9IFFPKTPPAQLPNBQD

If you already have one of these addresses in your history, then the other address is the address you (or whomever it was) sent the money to. If it is like another situation I saw today, though, you'll see the WQMI address in your history, which is the smaller of the two amounts, meaning that's the "change" from someone sending the larger amount to the TSBB address (which would mean it was stolen, if you don't recall doing it).

Hi, just got robbed too. Someone transferred, stole  all my IOTAS from IOTA wallet. Can anyone help ?

@AG If the transaction is still pending I might be able to help. Send me a private message with the transaction and bundle id of the outgoing transfer. Once that transaction is confirmed however, nothing can be done about it.
If you are technical you can also check out https://www.reddit.com/r/Iota/comments/7rlvx5/how_to_how_to_maybe_rescue_your_funds_before_the/

Thank you for the offer to help, I really appreciate,  but the transaction status shows CONFIRMED. IOTA doesn't take any responsibility for its broken wallet, and that's the sad part. You can't directly contact them and ask for help. I won't be surprised if it's an inside job and someone from IOTA stole them. Just letting people know that no one is safe and that shit can go down at any moment because there are awful  people out there...

@AG while I understand you are upset about loosing your coins, I would like to advice you not to spread falsehoods and accusations towards perfectly decent people.

Yes it is true the wallet isn’t user friendly yet. It is also true you were careless by generating your seed online at a website.

If you are not technical enough to understand how iota works, it’s dangerous at the moment because people who do read up on it will have an advantage.

I choose to use that advantage to help others. Some use it to steal.

Iota has a long way to go before they are consumer ready, on the other hand. They never claimed to be.

Also, if you take a look at all the sticky spots in the forum and reddit, they do try hard to inform people about misuse.
