+x+x+x+x+xHey, thanks for this awesome post. I was out of the country for 4 months and just got back and checked my wallet and my balance is 0. I followed your directions. I had only done one transaction before leaving and have the address, but when I did the steps you suggested, by balance still remains 0. I also searched on that list of addresses and mine was not there. Do you have any other suggestions of how I can find my iota? Thanks. Here is the transaction ID if it helps:GBVOUUVLHFKOMHLUZDNJQBSKKJYWQAQGCVRKFZAYGJMTLBU9LUJUTFRPZQNLIASFZ9EQXACBGJNHSDZDAWXZTGHURW Andrew @riptide989Hey Andrew, thanks for the post and welcome to the forum. https://thetangle.org/address/GBVOUUVLHFKOMHLUZDNJQBSKKJYWQAQGCVRKFZAYGJMTLBU9LUJUTFRPZQNLIASFZ9EQXACBGJNHSDZDAThe above address has an outgoing transaction that emptied its balance back in January of this year. Did you make this transaction? and to confirm, that was the only transaction i have ever done with iota. @riptide989
Hey Andrew, I really hat to say this, but the outgoing transaction from your address on January 22nd (and some failed attempts before this, starting on January 19th) shows that your funds have been stolen by a scammer, who operated a malicious seedgenerator website. You can read more about it here: https://medium.com/iota-demystified/what-happened-last-night-on-iota-b6157ade1e03You might also want to take a look at my post from last week in this thread: https://forum.helloiota.com/9284/Call-to-action-lets-catch-the-thief?PageIndex=46There's nothing you can do now, except file a claim with your local (cybercrime) police and hope that the thief gets caught. If that ever happens, you will have to provide proof that those stolen coins belong to you. So even if you don't want to involve the police, please make sure to keep your seed and all evidence of where your bought your coins from and where you sent them to afterwards (for example safe your trade history and your withdrawal history from your Binance account). In the future, please make sure to only generate your seed by using one of the methods mentioned here: https://blog.iota.org/the-secret-to-security-is-secrecy-d32b5b7f25efI'm very sorry that you've lost your funds! thanks for the help You're welcome. I wish helping you could have had a less frustrating outcome. All the best, Andrew!

Hello,
I really need some help. I´ve bought some IOTA back in January...everything was fine and i let it be for several months. When I had a look back into my Wallet some days ago, it showed 0 Balance. I already read the first post and tried everything that was mentioned in there, created over 100 addresses, also tried the reclaim tool several times...still 0 balance. The address only shows the 1 transaction and it seems like my Mis are still there. Nevertheless I just cant get them back...would really appreciate some help here. Address: FUYQLAMDUTOLAZXQQEDLRBUIUKISURKZLVEGTNWMSYEUXQEXYBRGKNYYFDOGFQ9VGOMVUTZYXVNWTOZHAPDDUOHJUA
Thanks!

Hi @Dafran, welcome to HelloIOTA! You’re right, the funds are still where your sent them. No sign of theft or anything. The reclaim tool is only useful to get back funds that have been secured by the IOTA Foundation before end of October 2017. This is not the case here, so the reclaim tool isn't going to do anything for you. If the address that you sent your funds to can’t be generated from the seed you're logged in with now, you’re not using the same seed as before. It could be a typo or a character that you've missed when you copied and pasted your seed to log in. Please double check for any such mistakes. Try typing in the seed by hand very carefully and pay attention if the checksum (three characters given by the wallet at login) is the same as when you've logged in before you sent the funds to the address. You could also give fvantom's recovery tool a shot if you can’t find the mistake yourself: https://forum.helloiota.com/7000/Seed-recovery-tool-for-typosPlease let us know how this went!

So i would say my seed is correct. It also worked before... still no balance. 120+ addresses created. Any other suggestions would be really appreciated...i feel a bit lost.

Hey @Dafran, well, you might have logged into the wallet with a typo in your seed when you generated your receive address. Unfortunately there's nothing else I could tell you. If your seed can't generate the address yo've posted, you need to find the seed that can generate it. I have talked to someone recently, who accidentally sent his funds from Coinfalcon to a bundle hash instead of an address. That would also explain your issue, but if that's what happened here, then your funds will be lost. So, better hope for a typo... If you want other people's opinion on this, I suggest you join r/IOTASupport or our Discord and ask for ideas in the #help-channel. Here's an invite link: https://discord.gg/hgbDnBdI hope you get this figured out.

I'm in the same situation as countless others it seems, I can't seem to recover my balance as of yet. I found my original transaction ID in the list that implies my IOTA have been secured by the founders so I went ahead and did the reclaim process, generated a new seed and attached it. I got confirmation of the new address that my IOTA will be sent to but when I log in with the new seed and attach the new address balance is still zero. Is there a set amount of time it should take for the IOTA to be sent or should it have been done automatically as soon as I set up the retrieve stuff?

When did you complete the reclaim process? If you reclaimed after the last date of processing by the IOTA Foundation, you would need to wait until they get around to processing the next round of reclaims. If you reclaimed before the last date they processed reclaims, then we'll have to think about your situation more closely (making sure to get every step confirmed, etc.). Do you have a date on which you performed the reclaim?

Seed generators aren't the only way to lose funds. Using any kind of insecure seed will put your funds at risk. If I remember correctly, your seed has likely been compromised due to low randomness (using only 13 of 27 possible characters and repeating those 13 over and over again until 81 chars were reached). This has nothing to do with what you've linked to. However, I'd encourage everyone who reads the article you've posted to also read the Foundation's response to it: https://blog.iota.org/official-iota-foundation-response-to-the-digital-currency-initiative-at-the-mit-media-lab-part-1-72434583a2

There’s no way for me (or anyone else) to verify your address. But if you log into the wallet with your new seed and this address is the first one you can generate in the Receive tab, you should be fine. Now all you can do is to wait for your reclaim to be processed by the Foundation. Unfortunately there’s no way to estimate when this will happen.

Hi, I've followed the steps and last week tried reclaim, will wait and see about that. Just wondering if someone can help make sense of the transactions, I recall my balance being 948Mi but now it's zero, and when I look at the last transaction when I sent 1000Mi to an exchange, I see the balance going from 1510Mi to zero. https://thetangle.org/address/YWARVSKHHBLIZS9FERUMZEZPFEDHVCFXWVJTDPWYVZSQUXJMNOEZNFPRKPNHYAGZPG9ROANPGNFBCDZS9I do find the references to 948Mi in the following address, after days of trying to send the balance to an exchange and giving up on the pending tx. https://thetangle.org/address/RDTYXFTGO9JOLTGUFJ9CYHCUHBOIOMVIFSKNN9CZEZAKOSKEKEJWGBSYDUMWILFEFCHOXHLXCWVD9YWMBBut it's also zero, and my wallet doesn't reattach with that address. Thanks for your time

+x Hi @tarikisan, thanks for your post and welcome to HelloIOTA! Any address where you sent funds from will have zero balance afterwards. That’s just how addresses work with IOTA: https://matthewwinstonjohnson.gitbooks.io/iota-guide-and-faq/how-addresses-work.htmlWe can see in the bundle that your 1 Gi has been send to the exchange and the remainder (your 948 Mi) went to your next address: bundle: https://thetangle.org/bundle/QSYUSSOBYWFYIOJECJLFZBELKQJSKDVIQJVUFBRJYDVG9BLJCJUPXJGQATPZJJ9WRXBRPJHWLQEVAJIXXaddress: https://thetangle.org/address/MLLGBICOYXPFYTTLJZBNBVVIB9CCVGFKDJYIDZHCLPJNUIZF9NGFPUKOMHPQUNRYLUCA9RSC9ZPLVDCDZFrom there it was transferred on January 27th to this address:
https://thetangle.org/address/RDTYXFTGO9JOLTGUFJ9CYHCUHBOIOMVIFSKNN9CZEZAKOSKEKEJWGBSYDUMWILFEFCHOXHLXCWVD9YWMBSo, your pending transaction to the exchange (that you gave up on) actually got confirmed. This address is now empty because exchanges always move deposited funds to other addresses internally, that’s totally normal. The reason why you can’t see this address in your own wallet is that it’s not your own address, but the deposit address of the exchange. They should have credited your deposit to your account by now. Please check back and submit a support ticket with the exchange if your deposit hasn’t been credited.
I wouldn't be able to help anyone without thetangle.org-explorer. If you feel like you want to support its developer Mathieu Viossat in maintaining his service, please consider a donation to the address shown here: https://thetangle.org/about. Thank you!

Hey guys,
I am opening my wallet after 6 months and cannot see my iotas any more. What I did so far is pretty overseeable but I am not able to locate my funds.
Here is my transaction history:
- bought IOTA on bitfinex in August
- moved IOTA from bitfinex to address X (TXID QCKCHZEFDUK9RYXUCYYYYXMTDWNGFPBQTUHOORCKDYNM9REJGVAKMRHTRWNULFIWJKMEJUCFVHGF99999)
- generated new "cold" seed/address Y
- moved all IOTA from address X to address Y (TXID DAOKXBNJHDWRN9FSSEPSATLGSQBYBQSG9LOEIDBPPY9ZVOWYOJUMAUEBEMYGMB9OPRSWKYKQPYHW99999)
- bought some more IOTA on bitfinex in december
- moved these IOTA from bitfinex to address Y (generated from different seed) (TXID FLLOYFPIWSJRWOIFCIQJPSXTVTDSTPXUGHOXMIOZBIFNOHB9KZXQCUONFABSIRWTTAPDGSIDUEON99999)
Now I cannot find my IOTA with any of those seeds with my wallet. Tried already to reattach more than 50 times.
Does anybody have an idea based on the transaction history? Thanks a lot in advance!!
Regards,
Hendrik
