Hey,
I dont know about you, but #slack app is running slow. I have iPhone6 (its not new I know), when I try to see an #announcement, or #general it takes some time to load everything, and all the animations. Usually it freezes Wink is any one thinking about migrating to other platform? Maybe Riot.im, or Telegram, Discord is for games, but also better than #slack. Or do I need a new phone? Smile

A lot of different ideas have been tossed around for live chat options. The slack bridge idea sounds great, but it may take a non-free slack solution.

It would be an understatement to say I'm not a fan of slack. I don't understand why people can't just use irc (or irc2 even, it's backward compatible).

There are many people, who like slack, espacially in the digital nomad scene. Me myself can't find anything special about it. After understanding the concepts of the website I installed the Android app. I was in a personal conversation with somebody and not even found a simple button (or press backward), to get out there. Reason was, that you have to touch the symbol of iotangle (not the name) to get the menu. Well, in time you get familiar with everything. :-/

But the greatest problem was to get invited first. Several links did not work anymore and suddenly I found one, which did work - after 2-3 hours of reading webpages. This is not the way it should be for new people interested in supporting the project. And this could easily be changed. I can't come around to say, that this did make me angry.

PS: Setting up a fully synced and syncing node is hard enough, there is no need for additional obstacles.

Those things you mention are the norm with any new platform. People just have to get used to it. I have no problem with learning a new platform. I have a problem with Slack in general. It's a noisy, bloated mess. 10k log limit, the API sucks, unmanageable, unorganised, unfocused etc...

I get that there are many people who like it and I'm probably the minority. I've set up an IRC channel some time ago with the aim of making the most important stuff on slack (announcements, etc..) and other sources available through IRC ,. but for that I need readonly access to the slack API. I've requested it many times from several different people but never received any reply.

I cann't even get on slack, I've been trying for days
slack.iota.org/ both with the http and https and all I get is a 502 error, bad gateway. The 502 page is from cloudflare and it shows no connection from cloudflare to host.

I've tried to use https://forum.iota.org/ but cann't figure out how to register. I can see the articles but I cann't register.

Anyone got any ideas?
