Difficulties opening 0.4.0 Beta wallet

O Group: Forum Members Posts: 8, Visits: 0	I wonder if I could seek some advice please. I bought some IOTA back in 2018 and moved them to a Trinity wallet opened with Ledger in November, 2018. I recently bought some more IOTA and have unsuccessfully attempted to send them to the same wallet. My funds are visible in the wallet but each time I try to click on receive (or send) and the prompt 'Connect your Ledger' appears and I execute, my ledger fails to open the wallet. The wallet is version 0.4.0 Beta. When I check for updates, an 'error receiving update data' appears. I have tried opening with both the original Ledger Nano S and also with a new Ledger Nano X with identical seed.. My question is, if I download a new wallet and set up with the same Nano will I be able to recover my IOTA and if so, are there any additional things I should know? Your help would be much appreciated.

Your help would be much appreciated. Hi @Ocean Drive, thanks for your post and welcome to Hello IOTA! The Trinity version you’re trying to use is way too old and Trinity also isn’t in Beta anymore. Before you switch to the latest version please go to „Account Settings“ ->“View seed“ and write down the number after „Your Ledger account index:“. Then go and download the latest Trinity version from here: https://trinity.iota.org/. Open Trinity -> click „Account“ -> „Add new Account“ -> connect and unlock your Ledger device now -> "Do you need to create a new seed?" „No, I have one.“ -> proceed with the correct index number (see step 1 above). Also make sure your Ledger has the latest firmware installed. I wouldn't be able to help anyone without thetangle.org-explorer. My wallet was working fine but for some reason it will no longer accept my password.I've tried every combination just in case I made a mistake but still no joy so I'm a tad confused. Am I ok to go through the same process again.ie, download a new wallet and attach the same index and password? I am on a Mac. Will I need to completely remove the existing wallet? and open the new one with the same nano X?. Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance Hey @Ocean Drive, yes, you can just delete Trinity completely and set it up again like described above. All you'll ever need is your Ledger Nano device and your index number. Same Ledger Nano of course if you have more than one. Actually, even a different Ledger Nano device would work as long as it has been set up with the same 24 words as your current one. Just so you know that in case you ever lose your current Ledger Nano or break it, you'll always be able to retrieve your funds with your 24 words backup and index number.
